RIST Technology Philosophy

Technology is a tool to be used at all grade levels in and across all subject areas to improve learning and enhance the development of each student.

RIST Technology Mission

The technology mission of RIST is to integrate technology into all aspects of the school to facilitate student learning and provide instructional support to:

  • promote responsible and ethical behavior
  • increase productivity
  • enhance communication
  • develop research
  • improve problem solving

RIST believes that Information and Communication Technology is an essential skill for life in the 21st century, a tool for teaching and learning and an academic discipline.   Our goal is to help all members of the RIST community make the most of learning with appropriate technologies.

RIST is a leader in educational technology. We are active in the educational technology and learning community. We are a regular venue for the International Schools Technology Exchange Committee (ISTEC).

The laptop computers use wireless Internet access in our classrooms, with technology being a tool that is part of all applicable learning situations. In addition to computers, classrooms also have projectors which provide students with clear access to their instructional materials. Media monitors are displayed school-wide to provide students access to school announcements and special events.

Students at RIST use Information Technology (IT) to learn in a productive and efficient manner, to express their ideas and show creativity, to analyze and solve problems, to communicate their findings and to demonstrate their learning outcomes.

Subscribing to the latest in online research portals, RIST students have access to a wide-array of first-class information to conduct their research. Our investment in technology is on a continuum and is always being revised and enhanced to have the best tools available for our community of learners.
RIST believes technology skills are best learned in the context of the students’ daily learning. RIST believes that using technology can enhance the learning of the classroom content knowledge. RIST has put in place an integrated technology learning model. Students learn IT skills throughout the course of their curricular learning.
